Update 26.01.2021

We are continuing to work to ensure that women who are due to be screened will receive their invitation as soon as possible. In line with government advice and local Trust guidelines, please wear a surgical face mask when attending your appointment as you must cover your nose and mouth. Hand sanitiser and gel is available on arrival at your appointment. A surgical mask will be provided to you at this point if you do not have your own.

Please continue to be breast aware and contact your GP as soon as possible about any unusual changes or concerns.

Please see: https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/breast-cancer/ for more information or www.breastcancernow.org for details of signs and symptoms.

We would like to thank you for your patience during this time.

We are now offering self-referral appointments but these may not be at your usual screening location.

The East Cheshire and Stockport Breast Screening Service is part of the National Breast Screening Programme and provides a breast screening service for all women aged 50 up to their 71st birthday to be invited for breast screening every 3 years. We aim to provide and promote an efficient and effective, high quality breast screening service, to all eligible women within a caring environment.

Please see our leaflet in the publications section or visit www.canscreening.nhs.uk for more details.

Breast screening aims to find breast cancer at an early stage, often before there are any symptoms. To do this, an x-ray is taken of each breast (mammogram). Early detection may often mean simpler and more successful treatment. read more
